The Rainbow Lion builds flat, and it builds slow. Twenty-seven pieces with a face of softly curved, oiled natural wood, framed by a mane of rainbow geometric blocks. Assembled in its frame, it's a lion. Taken apart, it's twenty-seven abstract shapes with no instructions attached. Children turn the eyebrows into animals, the eyes into birds, the mane into cliffs and rivers and roads. And then, at the end of the day, putting the lion back into its frame becomes its own puzzle, the kind children ask to do again and again.

The Connetix Creative Pack builds up, and it builds fast. 102 magnetic tiles that click together and stand. Walls become rooms, rooms become towers, towers become entire cities that catch the light and throw colour across the floor.
