The Large Rainbow is 12 arched wooden pieces that nest into each other when stored and come apart to become almost anything: a tunnel for a toy car, a cradle for a doll, a fence around a small herd of animals, a bridge, a birthday cake, a ball run, two halves of a bicycle, the walls of a house. Parents in the Bueno Blocks community have been photographing what their children build with this one set for years, and the ideas keep coming.
What makes it last is the simplicity of the form. An arch is just an arch — your child decides what it becomes. A toddler stacks and sorts by colour and size. A five-year-old builds elaborate structures. A seven-year-old engineers a ball run that takes up the living room floor. The same toy grows with each stage.
The matte, slightly textured surface is deliberate — it creates just enough grip that pieces stay where they're placed, which means fewer frustrating collapses and more time actually building.
Choosing your colour:
Rainbow — The classic. Vivid, saturated colours in the full spectrum. A bold first choice and the easiest to pair with other Grimm's sets.
Pastel — Softer, more muted tones. Popular for calm, aesthetically cohesive playrooms, and works beautifully alongside natural materials. Pairs well with everything.
Monochrome — Black, white, and grey. Visually striking, and the high contrast makes it particularly engaging for babies and young toddlers. A grown-up-looking set that children are equally drawn to.
Natural — Uncoloured, oiled alder wood. The grain of the wood becomes the focus. Calming and timeless, and a beautiful complement to any colour collection.
Handcrafted in Germany from sustainably sourced lime wood (or alder for Natural), finished with non-toxic water-based colour stain. Recommended by Spiel Gut (Good Toy Guide).
