How to Choose Connetix Tiles for Your Little Ones?
Whether you are new to the Connetix Tiles world or looking to expand your existing collection, our this newly updated Connetix Tiles Buyer's Guide will help you to make an informed decision in choosing one that is perfect for your unique family 💛
Let's dive in!
FAQ #1: I'm new to Connetix Tiles. Which pack should I buy first?
If you'd like to give it a try while your little one is young, go for the Mini Packs (Rainbow 24pc / Pastel 32pc). They are great entry to appreciate the versatility and quality of Connetix Tiles.
Once you're ready to dive into the world of Connetix Tiles, our number one recommendation is the Creative Packs (102pc Rainbow / 120pc Pastel). These give a child just the right amount of tiles to start with, with a wide variety of different tiles.
If that is a little out of your budget, we recommend the Starter Packs (60pc Rainbow / 64pc Pastel). The number of tiles are good enough for a child to explore magnetism, albeit with lesser variety.
If budget is not a concern or if you have more than one child, take a plunge for the Mega Packs (212pc Rainbow / 202pc Pastel). They consist of the complete variety of tile shapes that Connetix Tiles has to offer and the complete colour spectrum for each range. The Mega packs are also the best bang for the buck, as they are the cheapest per piece compared to other packs.
FAQ #2: I've already got the Connetix Tiles (Starter/Creative/Mega) pack. What else would you recommend?
Besides Rainbow & Pastel colour range, Connetix Tiles has clear transparent tiles (34pc Clear Starter Pack) as well as their newly released Roads Range in translucent black (more details on this later!).
Connetix has a variety of packs that offers different shaped tiles:
If your little one is looking to build taller or play more extensively, the Square Packs (42pc Rainbow / 40pc Pastel) would be the perfect addition famed for their simple versatility.
If you'd like to enhance your little ones' builds, the Rectangle Packs (Rainbow 18pc / Pastel 24pc / Clear 12pc) are ideal for robust building especially building bridges or tunnels. They are one of the game-changing range and pairs really well with ball runs too.
If your little one wish to build structures with firm foundation to build upon, the Baseplate Packs (2pc Blue-Green / 2pc Lemon-Peach / 2pc Pink-Berry / 2pc Clear) would be perfect for this.
Baseplates also work great as a play scene or dioramas. For example, blue/green as water and mountains, lemon/peach as deserts, pink/berry as Sakura and clear as Swiss Alps. These baseplates provide sturdy foundations for all your ball run adventures too!
If you wish to try complex structures and builds, go for the Geometry Packs (30pc Rainbow / 40pc Pastel) for unique hexagons and isosceles triangles to extend and enhance the build and play. These hexagons are not found in the starter and creative packs, so you're really getting in some variety. The geometry pack tiles also have a complete rainbow/pastel colour spectrum if you're one of those parents who must have all the colours in their collection.
Shapes Expansion Packs (Rainbow 36pc / Pastel 48pc / Clear 24pc) , that comes in shapes like diamonds, trapeziums & quarter circles - all encourage deeper mathematical understandings around fractions, measurement, location and transformation, while providing new possibilities for both 2D and 3D designs.
Lastly, Connetix has collections for vehicle lovers as well - 2pc Car Pack, 24pc Motion Pack or the Transport Pack (50pc Rainbow / 50pc Pastel) for vehicle play. Their cars all come with rubber wheels. The motion pack & transport pack comes with additional tiles for the customisation of vehicles. Think police car, fire engine, or ambulance.
And what are vehicles without roads? If you're looking to build towns with roads, the Roads Creative Pack 48pc or the Ramps & Intersections Pack 16pc are the go to packs. It comes in black translucent tiles, including arches, intersections, quarter circles, plus long and short ramps!
FAQ #3: I already have the tiles and am considering having the ball runs. Which would you recommend?
We recommend always starting with the Ball Run Packs (92pc Rainbow / 106pc Pastel) for ball runs. It comes with simpler ball run tubes that is not too challenging for children to learn essential skills first. Note that the Ball Run packs do not come with standard tiles so you will need to have the standard tiles from any of the packs mentioned above if you're eyeing on re-creating the ball runs in the photo below or the images on the packs themselves.
When your little one is ready to uplevel their ball runs, go for the Ball Run Expansion Packs (66pc Rainbow / 80pc Pastel), which offer complicated tracks for expert ball run builders. Think X tubes, spiral tubes and double bowls. Most importantly, the long tracks are only found in the Ball Run Packs, and Expansion Packs are really an expansion to the Ball Run Packs.
FAQ #4: Which pack would be ideal as gifts? Which pack would be ideal for travel?
The Mini Packs (Rainbow 24pc / Pastel 32pc) are ideal for travels, or as gifts to friends and family. They come in Connetix Tiles' robust packaging and weighing around 1kg, making them easy to pop into your bag and bringing them with you on the go.
FAQ #5: Which colour theme would you recommend? Rainbow or Pastels? Aside from colour, is there anything I should know about?
While the choice of colour palettes is a matter of personal preference, here is something you might not know:
Pastels have more colours and that means more square tiles. Rainbow packs come in six (6) different coloured tiles. Pastel packs come in eight (8) different coloured tiles.
What does that mean?
Pastel packs tend to have more square tiles, and you know how we at Bueno Blocks feel about the simplest of blocks - all essentials, no fluff toys. Small square tiles are the best building blocks for magnetic tiles. Simple, basic and highly versatile. Offer a few pieces to your child, and they are ready to play with them without any guidance.
FAQ #6: My child is below 3 years old. Are Connetix Tiles suitable for them?
Connetix Tiles is recommended for children ages 3 and above. This is due to the risk of small parts coming off and may pose as a choking hazard.
As long as there is strict adult supervision to mitigate that risk, it is safe to introduce it to younger children.
In our home, both our children have been playing with magnetic tiles since they turned 16 months, and in this period of 5 years, we have not faced any incidents where small parts came off.
And there you have it!
