In Mongolian, avdar is a wooden box furniture that stores the most precious things in the family. AVDAR wants to be that special box from which you can find beautiful, simple toys for the children and family.
Originally developed in 2016, Daria and her husband wanted to give their child more natural and open-ended play. It begun with the wooden gym when he was 18 months old. In Russia, many families have such wooden rack at home and it helps children to develop many physical skills in early age. Out of frustration of the lack of such toys in China and armed with good handcrafting skills, Daria and her husband started creating toys that formed the AVDAR that we know today.
AVDAR has 3 core believes:
1. Open-ended play - here children freely chooses the way to play their own toys. Open and free play nurtures creativity and helps kids to stay active in their growing years.
2. Minimalism - where a simple toy can replace many other toys. More families are starting to declutter their home and surround themselves with things that only bring joy into their lives. This way to living provides a great environment for the children to grow.
3. Nature - where everything is beautiful and safe. Their wood is sourced from Russia and finished with water based non-toxic paints from Germany. The toys are made from solid wood and the woodworking maintains the natural wood patterns and grain as well as its velvety texture. This results in beautifully coated and tactile toy for little hands.
AVDAR toys have been tested to conform with EN71 and ASTM standards.
